Child from Democratic Republic of Congo who died in Bujumbura did not have Ebola

11 May: Authorities announced the test results are negative for Ebola. They stress there is no Ebola outbreak. No cause of death was provided.

7 May: Health authorities have confirmed the death of a 9-year-old girl from the DRC due to a haemorrhagic syndrome. While media outlets have reported it as a suspected case of Ebola, authorities stress that investigations are ongoing and no diagnosis has been confirmed. Samples have been sent to Burundi's National Institute of Public Health for testing.

5 May: Media are reporting a child, aged 7 to 8 years old, died at the Kamenge Military Hospital in Bujumbura on 2 May. The child was from Democratic Republic of Congo, and had syptoms of bleeding. Tests results for Ebola are not yet available. The mother of the child and at least five staff in contact with the child are being monitored.
