The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published an update to their technical report on avian influenza A(H5N1) viruses. This update includes recent detections in dairy cattle and updated recommendations for monitoring H5N1 in the United States. Genetic sequences analysed to date have not shown significant adaptation to mammals. CDC continues to assess the overall risk to humans as low, but expects additional sporadic human infections in those with exposure to infected animals.
