Increasing cases of COVID-19 across Europe

16 September, 2020

Across Europe and the United Kingdom, cases of COVID-19 have been increasing after lockdowns were lifted and preventive measures were further relaxed. With the reopening of schools and indoor activities taking place, the increase in cases is a reminder that the pandemic is far from over. Simple measures should be adhered to in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including increased hand hygiene, proper use of face masks and physical distancing. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has recommended maximising testing efforts, and the key to control transmission of virus is large-scale testing, "followed by the isolation and treatment of identified cases and the quarantining of contacts."
