COVID-19 in Senegal

Senegal // 17 September, 2020

At least 14,568 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Senegal, including 299 deaths. See the Ministry of Health's corona page for more information.

Status: Decreasing activity

17 September: A small number of cases continue to be detected daily. On 16 September, 39 new cases were reported. The total case count is at 14,568 of which 10,756 have recovered, 299 have died and 3512 are currently under treatment. 

2 September: A decline in cases have been noted. At least 9,500 cases have recovered.

17 August: About 1,500 additional cases have been reported since the last update. The total case count is at 12,162 of which majority of the cases are in Dakar Ouest, Dakar Centre, Dakar Sud and Dakar Nord with more than a thousand cases each. More than 4,200 cases are currently under treatment and at least 7,600 have recovered. 253 deaths have been reported. 

7 August: High case activity continues. The total case count has surpassed 10,000 cases in the country, of which 7,101 have recovered. 

29 July: About 1,000 new cases have been reported since the last update.

22 July: Additional cases reported taking the total to 8,985 cases with 174 deaths. Use of masks are compulsory in public and private spaces.

13 July: At least 121 new cases were reported, bringing the total to over 8,000 cases. Senegal plans to reopen its airspace from 15 July.

6 July: More cases have been confirmed taking the total tally to 7,478 cases and 136 deaths. At least 4,909 cases have recovered and a total of 60 districts have been affected. Dakar West is the most affected with 1,129 cases.

30 June: New cases continue to be reported. WHO is reporting that 4,291 cases have recovered.

1 June: The total cases reported is 3,739 cases including 41 deaths. School re-openings have been postponed after teachers were tested positive.
