Due to the widespread transmission of COVID-19 across the European Region, WHO has provided several recommendations and advice for individuals and governments to follow during the winter holidays to prevent resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the first weeks of the new year.
WHO recommends that countries with ski resorts to organise their seasonal activities and "remove the possibility of crowding, especially in confined or closed settings, including during travel."
Religious services and gatherings should have a limited size and duration and be held outdoors when possible. Physical distancing should be maintained, as well as ventilation, hand hygiene and wearing of masks.
For those who need to travel, they should avoid crowded transportation and are encouraged "to follow guidance from authorities."
