The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the influenza strains to be included in each hemisphere's annual flu vaccination. They choose the virus strains most likely to cause widespread disease in the hemisphere's upcoming flu season, based on data collected in the months prior. Sometimes the formulations are the same for each hemisphere. The components recommended to be included in vaccines for the 2022-2023 northern hemisphere influenza season are the same as those recommended for the upcoming 2022 southern hemisphere flu season.
