An expert group on a World Health Organization (WHO) mission to research the origins of COVID-19 arrived in Wuhan, China, on 14 January. They will now complete a 14-day mandatory quarantine period. The team will begin working remotely with their local counterparts, before a two-week period on the ground. This is the third mission, following visits by the WHO experts in February and July last year.
WHO Executive Director of Health Emergencies Dr. Michael Ryan has stated that the aim is to understand the origins of the disease, rather than laying blame.
