13 July: The World Health Organization (WHO) have congratulated Bahrain for having provided over a million of it's population with 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine. This was done free of charge and regardless of citizenship status.

9 May: Vaccinated individuals, and those who have recovered, will be allowed entry to indoor premises as well as events and exhibitions from the first day of Eid al-Fitr. They must present their "green shield" status, and vaccine certificate.

70% of the eligible population have received at least one dose of vaccine.

Media are reporting that authorities are advising a third booster dose of vaccination may be recommended.

9 April: As of 4 April, 527,339 people have received at least one dose and 270,585 people (15.52% of population) have been fully vaccinated. The Ministry of Health reports (in Arabic) that there are currently no waiting times for people wanting the Sputnik V vaccine. People over 60 years do not need to make an appointment to receive the Sputnik V vaccine, they can go directly to the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Center to be vaccinated.

Another shipment of Pfizer-BioNTech is due to arrive by the end of May, with enough supplies for people who have already received the first to complete the two-dose schedule. The country is waiting on further shipments of the Sinopharm vaccine.

2 March: The Johnson & Johnson vaccine has received emergency use approval.

The Ministry of Health has extended the period between doses of Covishield-AstraZeneca from 4 to 8 weeks.

People can register for a vaccination appointment through the Ministry of Health website, The BeAware Application, or by calling 444. People have a choice of vaccines.

The Sputnik V vaccine was authorised for emergency use in February.

25 January: Bahrain has approved the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine for emergency use, making it the third to be approved in the country after Sinopharm and Pfizer/BioNtech vaccines.

27 December: The first COVID-19 vaccinations were made available on 25 December to anyone over the age of 18 years. Due to the high turnout, the walk-in system has been suspended. People must now first register and book an appointment online. "The online portal now enables those registering to select their preferred health center and the type of vaccine they wish to receive". There is a supply of both the Sinopharm and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines. Vaccine is provided free of charge.
