23 November 2021: Malta has extended its vaccination programme to include initial vaccines for all residents aged 12 and above. Booster vaccine doses are now also available for those over 65 years old and those with underlying illness from 28 days after initial vaccination or after 6 months for all other eligible age groups.
28 December 2020: Malta received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine on 26 December and started COVID-19 vaccination on the 27th. According to a press release (in Maltese), vaccination of health workers began at Mater Dei Hospital.
Media sources state that the country received 10,000 doses of the vaccine. Healthcare workers at various hospitals will be vaccinated at various hospitals over the next few weeks. Vaccination for people above 85 years of age is likely to begin in January.
