7 October: The Ministry of Health announced the re-launch of the COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign today. Officials hope to increase vaccination rates in order to reach the goal of vaccinating 30% of the population by December 2021. Approximately 4% of the Zambia population has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose.
15 April: The first shipment of 228,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine have arrived via COVAX. The vaccination campaign kicked off on 14 April; the first priority groups include frontline health workers and other people at highest risk of infection.
Further shipments from COVAX in the coming months are expected to total over 1.4 million doses.
