Vaccine Update – 600,000 doses of vaccine delivered

5 May: It has been reported that, extra 600,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine were delivered to Hong Kong to cope with the demand for vaccination for COVID-19. Individuals who have not received their vaccine yet, and those eligible for third or fourth dose are urged to get their vaccination.

14 February: Authorities have announced that from 15 February, the eligible age for the Sinovac vaccine will be lowered to three years old. The Pfizer vaccine will be also available from 16 February for children aged five to 11 years. Parents or guardians will need to accompany their children to the vaccination appointment. Relevant identification documents and a signed consent form will need to be shown.

20 January: The Hong Kong Government have announced that from 21 January parents can register children aged 5 to 11 years old for vaccination. Initially the Sinovac vaccine will be available and from February the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine will also be available.

3 January 2022: Individuals who received two doses of Sinovac vaccine six months ago are also eligible for a booster dose.

Posted 23 December 2021: Authorities recommend adults receive a third dose of COVID-19 vaccination with Pfizer/BioNTech at least six months after completing the two dose primary series. Exceptions may be made allowing the dose to be given up to three months early. In addition, children aged 12 to 17 years are now recommended to receive a second dose of Pfizer/BioNTech . Previously a single dose was recommended in this age group. The second dose is recommended to be given at least 12 weeks after the first dose.
