Health authorities have confirmed that two South Korean and one Malaysian visitor were infected with 2019-nCoV during their stay in Singapore January 20 to 22. The infections were announced on 4 and 5 February. The visitors were part of a group meeting of 109 participants - 94 came from overseas participants and have since departed Singapore. “The relevant overseas health authorities” have been informed. The 14-day period after 22 January ends today 5 February. It is unclear where the source of infection might have come from. Unverified sources state that participants from China were present at the meeting

An additional locally-transmitted case has been confirmed in man who was exposed to a 20 person tour group from China between 22 to 23 January. The tour group were also in Singapore in transit on 27 January. Six other locally-acquired infections are associated with this tour group. The 14-day period after the tour group visited retail areas in Singapore will end by 7 February. According to Chinese authorities, two travellers in this tour group have subsequently been confirmed infected with 2019-nCoV.

The Ministry of Health reiterates “There is as yet no evidence of widespread community transmission in Singapore.”
