Sources have reported a rise in COVID-19 case numbers in the country, after recording low activity for the last three months. A higher case positivity rate has been recorded in some major cities like Karachi and Hyderabad. The two cities have implemented a mask mandate in public places, like malls, places of worship and restaurants. Subvariants of Omicron, BA.4 and BA.5 have contributed to the increase in cases.
Officials have urged the public to get their booster shots after five months of the previous dose. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have made use of masks mandatory onboard all domestic flights.
