Rise in COVID-19 and RSV infections

A rise in COVID-19 infections has been noted in several states of Germany. The most notable increase was recorded in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Other states in the east have also been significantly affected. Visits to healthcare facilities with complaints of acute respiratory illnesses are on the rise. Most infections are in children below four years and those 60 years and above. There has been a marginal increase in hospitalisations related to respiratory illnesses.

Apart from SARS-CoV-2, there has been an increase in infections due to the respiratory syncitial virus (RSV).
