The public health response to Ebola in Equateur Province has now shifted from the provincial cities to the remote and hard to reach areas affected by the outbreak. This comes off the back of highly coordinated efforts and effective measures by the Nigerian Ministry of Health, World Health Organisation (WHO) and other partners to contain the disease from spreading in Mbandaka and Bikoro, as well as to other major cities and towns along the Congo River. The next stage of the response will focus on reaching out to the remote areas of Itipo and Iboko, conducting expeditionary surveillance, contact tracing and community engagement activities.
