A chicken farm in Xiaying District, Tainan and another in Taisi Township, Yunlin County, have been affected by H5 bird flu. Over 13,000 birds have been culled to prevent further spread. This follows outbreaks of avian flu H5N2 and H5N8 in Chiayi County and Kaohsiung in April. No human cases of bird flu have arisen in Taiwan, although several travellers from mainlande have been identified with H7N9 after arrival in Taiwan.
