Ongoing chikungunya outbreak

26 August: Newly confirmed infections have raised the national total to 3,899 cases this year, with four fatalities reported to date.

15 August: The U.S. CDC's travel health notice for chikungunya in Bolivia's Santa Cruz department, first issued in June 2025, remains in effect. The 'Level 2 - Practice Enhanced Precautions' notice advises travellers to prevent mosquito bites. Vaccination may also be recommended for travellers visiting locations experiencing an outbreak, and pregnant travellers may want to reconsider travel if close to their due date.

9 August: Bolivia has confirmed additional infections, bringing the total for this year to 3,886. No new fatalities have been reported.

26 June: As infections continue to rise in Santa Cruz department, a travel notice is in effect to practice enhanced precautions for Bolivia. So far this year, 3,641 confirmed cases have been reported, and one fatality.

27 May: Health authorities have declared an Orange Alert in Santa Cruz department in response to the increase in chikungunya cases. So far this year,901 confirmed infections have been reported. The alert was issued with the intent of intensifying prevention and control measures in the area to protect residents.
