No Marburg outbreak in the country

Some media reports have published information about a Marburg outbreak in Nigeria. Nigeria’s Centres for Disease Control have since refuted these claims and have confirmed that there is currently no Marburg outbreak in Nigeria. It appears that there was a misunderstanding as a teaching hospital in Abjua sent a memo, to what intended to be an internal communication to its staff. It was mistakenly made public. The memo was intended to raise awareness and preparedness for its staff at the hospital only. Continue to monitor Nigeria’s CDC for the latest information.
