Additional clade II mpox infections detected

27 July: Health authorities have confirmed the first case of mpox in the Zamboanga city. The patient, who began showing symptoms on 6 July 2025, is recovering in home isolation and has no travel history outside the city. Four close contacts have been identified and are being monitored, though all remain asymptomatic. Authorities emphasize that the risk to the general public is low, and containment measures are in place.

26 July: The first confirmed mpox infection has been reported in Surigao del Dur province. The individual sought medical care after developing symptoms including rash, fatigue, and fever, following recent travel to an area with known mpox cases. All close contacts have been identified and are currently under close monitoring.

19 July: The second confirmed mpox infection in the Caraga Region has been reported in Dinagat Islands. The patient, who had travelled to Davao City and South Cotabato, has since fully recovered. All close contacts have been monitored and have not shown any signs or symptoms of mpox infection

2 July: Health officials have confirmed the first mpox case in Mati City, Davao Oriental. The patient completed home isolation on 20 June. Authorities continue to monitor the situation to prevent further spread.

22 June: The first mpox infection in Misamis Occidental province has been confirmed, with clade II identified. Contact tracing is underway.

18 June: Health officials have confirmed the first case of mpox in Agusan del Sur and in the Caraga region. The patient, who had recently travelled to Davao City, developed symptoms shortly after their return. Health authorities are actively monitoring the situation to prevent further spread.

12 June: Additional cases of clade II mpox have been reported in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), as well as in Iloilo City, Maasin City, and other areas. As infections rise, speculation about a nationwide lockdown has spread, despite no official plans for such a measure. The Department of Health has firmly dispelled these rumors, emphasizing that current conditions do not meet the criteria for a lockdown under their guidelines. Health authorities have asked residents to continue to adhere to basic safety practices in an effort to control the virus’s spread.

28 May: Health authorities in Iloilo City, Philippines, have confirmed the city's first case of mpox on 27 May, with four additional suspected cases under investigation. The confirmed patient has no recent travel history. All affected individuals are in stable condition and remain in isolation while receiving medical care. Health officials have stated that there is currently no evidence of widespread community transmission, and contact tracing is ongoing.

25 May: Authorities have confirmed ten cases of mpox in South Cotabato province. Infections have been identified in the municipalities of Tboli, Surallah, Banga, Tantangan, Lake Sebu, and Koronadal City. Officials attribute the rise in detected cases to heightened awareness and improved surveillance efforts.

Mpox has been present in the country since 2022.
