Health authorities have confirmed that at least 17 people have been infected with locally-acquired mpox since the beginning of this year. At least 8 of the infections occurred since mid-June. All infections have been linked to clade IIb. This type of mpox has been reported in Taiwan since 2022, with dozens of infections reported 2024.
