Most farmed animals unable to carry or spread SARS-CoV-2

United States // 14 October, 2021

Researchers have been working to determine if animals commonly farmed in the US are susceptible to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19. They found that eggs and live poultry, cattle, swine, and arthropods (mosquitoes, ticks, flies) were unable to replicate the virus and become a source of infection for people. Deer were the only animals studied that were susceptible to SARS-CoV-2.They didn't show symptoms but did spread the virus to other deer. This information was posted by the United States Department of Agriculture.
