Authorities advised people to step up hygiene measures including use of masks as winter approaches. Various respiratory infections and illnesses such as influenza, COVID-19, mycoplasma pneumonia, hand, foot, and mouth disease, and norovirus are more active and become more prevalent during the winter months. Hygiene measures including wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, maintaining social distancing, and getting vaccinated can protect individuals, especially children, from these infectious diseases during the winter season.
