India will supply vaccines to neighbouring countries

21 January: Media sources have reported that India has provided 2 million doses of Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh and 1 million doses to Nepal.

20 January: The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has announced that they will supply Indian manufactured vaccines to several neighbouring countries from 20 January. The recipient countries will include; Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal and Seychelles. Assessment for other countries such as Afghanistan, Mauritius and Sri Lanka continues.

While it isn’t stated which vaccines will be supplied, India is locally producing Covishield (manufactured by the Serum Institute and based on the Oxford University / AstraZeneca vaccine) and Covaxin (locally developed by Bharat Biotech).
