Increasing bird flu testing capacity

Quest Diagnostics was awarded several U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) contracts to support diagnostics for emerging infectious diseases, including avian influenza. Currently, influenza A H5 tests are only available through public health laboratories or the CDC. Starting at the end of October, healthcare providers can order influenza A H5 tests through Quest. The commercial availability of these tests will increase testing capacity should demand increase.
