16 October: The ongoing flu activity has risen sharply, with most cases attributed to influenza A (H3) and influenza B. Children have been the most affected group. Health authorities advise that individuals who can be safely managed at home should remain in isolation for 5–7 days.
15 October: Health authorities in Malaysia have reported a rise in influenza infections. Areas reporting large numbers of cases include Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang, Johor, and Kedah.
Several schools have been closed to control the spread of infections. The Ministry of Education has issued several recommendations, including the use of face masks, maintaining hygiene, avoiding large group activities and seeking medical attention if presenting symptoms.
