Flu season underway

Posted 11 December: Authorities have issued an epidemic notice for influenza as the number of cases is on the rise. The advisory is relatively early - usually the level of activity that triggers the warning is reached in January. The main strain detected is an A(H3N2). People are being reminded to follow general hygiene measures and to be vaccinated. (Korean CDC Influenza Epidemic Notice, in Korean).

Updated 19 December: The Korean CDC continue to report an increase in influenza cases. Majority of the cases have been confirmed with the A(H3N2) strain. Health authorities are reminding public to follow strict hygiene measures and get vaccinated as this years flu vaccine covers the strain that is causing the epidemic.
