First patient receives Vaxart oral COVID-19 vaccine

Vaxart has announced that the first person received a dose of their VXA-CoV2-1 COVID-19 vaccine on 13 October. This vaccine is the first to be given by mouth rather than injection. The Phase 1 safety study being conducted in California and will involve up to 48 healthy 18-54 years old adults. Two tablets will be given 28 days apart, and varying doses will be evaluated for safety and immune response.
