First detection of bird flu in the country affecting a commercial farm

Ecuador reported the presence of highly pathogenic avian flu H5, subtype unknown, for the first time. Around 49,900 infected birds died in a commercial poultry farm in Chaguana, Latacunga Canton, Cotopaxi Province.
