Mandatory travel health questionnaire in response to Ebola outbreak

21 July: In response to the ongoing Ebola disease outbreak, health authorities have announced that all travellers from Congo (DRC) and Uganda are required to complete a Travel Health Questionnaire (THQ) up to 24 hours before arriving in South Africa. The questionnaire includes a health assessment section that asks travellers whether they are experiencing symptoms consistent with Ebola virus disease and whether they have recently been in contact with individuals displaying these symptoms.

21 May: Health authorities are closely monitoring the Ebola disease situation and state that preparedness measures remain active in South Africa, including strengthened surveillance, laboratory readiness, infection prevention and control protocols, and heightened awareness among healthcare workers to enable prompt identification and response to any suspected imported cases.

There are no restrictions on travel or trade related to the Ebola disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Uganda.
