European Centre for Disease prevention and Control (ECDC) have published the seventh and eighth reports up to week 30 in the 2021-2022 influenza season. There was a rise in detections late in the season compared with pre pandemic detections and the predominant strains were type A viruses. ECDC also note that although there has been increased testing for influenza during the COVID-19 pandemic there have been less detections that are thought to be related to the measures to combat COVID-19.
