6 May: WHO has reported an additional clade Ib mpox infection in Germany, bringing the total number of clade Ib cases in Germany to 10. Currently, there is limited information regarding this latest case.

10 April: Authorities have reported two new mpox infections in Harburg district (Lower Saxony state). One individual recently travelled to Africa, and a family member of this person has also developed symptoms. The risk to the general public from these new infections is considered low.

10 March: WHO reported another imported clade Ib infection in the country, involving an adult man with a recent travel history. Investigations are underway, and no additional details are currently available. There have now been eight infections reported in Germany: five imported and three following exposure to an imported case.

11 January: Authorities have confirmed a fourth imported detection of clade Ib mpox. The person had a recent travel history of returning from an affected country in East Africa and there are no associated infections related to this traveller.

2024

19 December: The World Health Organization (WHO) reported another clade Ib mpox infection in an adult man who recently travelled to East Africa. This marks the third imported case and the sixth mpox infection reported in Germany.

16 December: Local authorities have confirmed the detection of clade Ib mpox in a family in the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis. One of the members of the family is believed to have become infected while in Africa. At least three other family members, including two children, have been affected. Close contacts, including individuals from a school in Rösrath and their workplace, have been identified and contacted. As a precaution, the school has announced a switch to distance learning until 21 December.

In October 2024, an imported clade Ib mpox patient was detected in North Rhine-Westphalia involving a traveller from Rwanda.
