Cases rise nearly 30 percent among children

United States // 28 November, 2020

More than 144,000 children in the United States were diagnosed with COVID-19 the week ending 19 November, the highest weekly number since the pandemic began. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Children’s Hospital Association reported that cases among children have increased 28 percent over the last two weeks. The AAP further states this is likely an undercount of actual cases, since children often have only mild symptoms and may not be tested. Although most children do no experience severe infections, the AAP is calling for more collection data to examine possible longer-term impacts on children.
