The first case of the Omicron variant has been confirmed in the country according to media reports. Citing an unpublished joint statement from the Ministry of Health and the National COVID-19 Emergency Response Centre, the case occurred in a traveller who returned from Nigeria. The traveller had a positive COVID-19 test on 25 November and genetic sequencing confirmed the Omicron variant today.
