COVID-19 vaccination status "up-to-date" rather than "fully vaccinated"

Australia // 12 February, 2022

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) now defines COVID-19 vaccination status in terms of whether people have received all recommended vaccinations for their age by the recommended time period as "up-to-date". The term "fully vaccinated" is no longer used. The change in definition comes in to effect by the end of March 2022.

Everyone 16 and older needs to have a booster dose, from 3 months after their two dose primary schedule is completed, to be considered "up-to-date". People who have not had a booster within 6 months of the primary schedule are considered "overdue".
Children aged 5 to 15 years are "up-to-date" after a two-dose primary schedule as a booster is not recommended for them.
