The President has heightened measures in the country to control the spread of COVID-19 during the holiday season. The country has moved from alert Level 1 to alert Level 3 from midnight 28 December. However, restrictions have been adjusted considering economic reasons. One of the key steps that have been taken is that not wearing masks in public areas would be considered an offense and will be punished. Other measures include prohibiting all indoor and outdoor gatherings (except funerals) for the next two weeks, curfew between 9 pm and 6 am, all bars and restaurants to close by 10 pm, sale of alcohol has been banned at nightclubs and restaurants etc. See press release for details.
