Status: Decreasing Activity

21 December: Cases are continuing to slowly decrease, with a daily average of 140 new cases in the last week. In total there have been over 76,000 cases confirmed, including 612 fatalities. Tashkent City and Region are the most affected areas, accounting for over 78% of all cases. Over 2,000 people are currently being treated in medical facilities and more than 73,300 people have recovered.

Phase 3 clinical trials of a vaccine produced by the Chinese company Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical have begun, with 5,000 people expected to be enrolled. Media further report that Uzbekistan plans to purchase the Russian made Sputnik V vaccine.

28 November: Daily new cases continue to decrease. More than 69,000 people have recovered from the illness.

18 November:The total case count now exceeds 70,000 though only a few thousand are currently active. Tashkent City is reporting about half of all new cases. The Press Service announced on 17 November that there are 17,500 beds reserved for COVID-19 patients across 89 institutions nationally, and around 6,500 are occupied. Nationally, the occupancy rate was stated to be at 38 percent.

29 October: Total case count is at 65,944 of which at least 95 percent have recovered. The number of new cases have decreased, and Uzbekistan has moved out of Outbreak category and into Decreasing activity.

15 October: More than 60,000 cases reported so far and about 500 deaths.

8 October: Additional cases confirmed since the last update with Tashkent city reporting the highest number. More than 56,000 people have recovered.

24 September: New cases continue to be reported daily. The country has seen an increase in the rate of new cases since early September. Public health authorities are reporting that as of 22 September 536 cases are in serious condition, and 283 people are considered in extremely serious condition.

10 September: A total of 749 cases were detected today, breaking the previous record of 748 cases on 3 August.

5 September: Some lockdown restrictions are now eased. Restaurants and cafes are open with capacity restrictions. Entertainment and cultural facilities (theater and cinema only) have reopened, as have parks and recreation areas.

9 July: Cases have been surging and the country will be under lockdown again for three weeks from 10 July. A total of 11,092 cases have been confirmed, of which 6,888 people have recovered and 45 people have died. The city of Tashkent continues to be the most affected area.

2 June: Cases continue to increase, bringing the total to exceed 3,600.

7 May: More cases have been reported. The total number of cases have reached 2,266.

22 April: Cases continue to be reported, bringing the total number of cases to exceed 1,600.

27 March: At least 80 cases have been confirmed since the country reported the first imported case in mid-March. Local transmission is occurring.
