COVID-19 in Bangladesh

Status: Increasing activity

25 November: An increase in cases and deaths continue to be reported. Around 2,000 cases are reported each day with Dhaka division recording the highest number of cases in the country. 

18 November: Additional cases continue to be reported with the highest daily case count reported in the last 24 hours. Closure of schools and educational institutions have been extended to 19 December.

11 November: An overall increase in trend has been reported with additional cases recorded. A recovery rate of 80.5% has been noted.

6 November: The country has moved from "Decreasing activity" to "Increasing activity" category.

4 November: More cases continue to be recorded. Majority of the cases have been reported from Dhaka division, followed by Chattogram, Khulna and Rajshahi.

27 October: The country has crossed the 400,000 mark since the last update. Authorities have launched a policy of "no mask, no service" to prevent further spread of infection. It means no services will be provided to people without a mask on.

20 October: Additional cases reported with over 390,000 confirmed cases. More than 305,000 people have recovered from the illness.

14 October: The overall decrease continues with less number of cases being reported. Dhaka Division continues to record the highest number of cases in the country.

9 October: There is an overall decrease in new cases in the country. At least 26,300 people have recovered from the illness. More than 200,000 tests have been conducted so far. In the Rohingya camps, a total of 41 cases have been confirmed. 

1 October: The country has moved to "Decreasing activity" category. 

18 September: Additional cases reported but a decline in numbers have been noted since the last few days.

11 September: In week 36, new cases decreased by about 11.6 percent and deaths by 24.8 percent. More than 233,000 people have recovered so far.

7 September: More cases reported but a decline in the outbreak has been noted. Bangladesh's Beximco and Serum Institute of India will partner in developing a COVID-19 vaccine. 

4 September: Additional cases have been confirmed. More than 100 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the Rohingya camps.

1 September: A total of 312,996 confirmed cases with 4,281 deaths have been reported so far. Media sources are reporting that authorities have extended the shutdown of all educational institutions, except madrassas, till 3 October. In other news, Bangladesh will allow the human trial of a COVID-19 vaccine developed by the Chinese company, Sinovac Biotech Ltd.
