COVID-19 in Bangladesh, August

Status: Outbreak 

27 August: A decrease in new cases but an increase in deaths have been noted. A total of 304,583 cases with 4,217 deaths confirmed.

23 August: A total of 294,598 cases and 3,941 deaths have been confirmed so far. The highest case numbers continue to be reported from Dhaka division followed by Chattogram, Khulna and Rajshahi.

18 August: Out of the total of 279,144 cases and 3,694 deaths, 57.5% have recovered, 1.32% have died and 41.5% are active cases. Men represented at least 72% and 79% of the total COVID-19 cases and deaths respectively.

13 August: Additional cases reported taking the total to 269,115 cases with 3,557 deaths. On 3 August, authorities extended the period of restriction on overall activities and movements to 31 August. 

8 August: On 30 July, health authorities issued a list of organizations (in Bangla) designated for issuing COVID-19 free certificates to foreign nationals/travellers wishing to travel abroad. The total confirmed cases in the country is 252,502 with 3,333 deaths. A total of 75 cases have been reported in the Rohingya camps.

2 August: The country reported the lowest daily cases in 85 days. The total case count now stands at 240,746 and 3,154 deaths.
