A man in his fifties is reported by the Jordan health authorities to have passed away from MERS. This could possibly be the case reported on 31 August. He was admitted to a private hospital in Amman to treat other chronic conditions, but no further details have been provided about how he might have been exposed to the virus.
The total MERS cases in this recent outbreak appears to be eight, with five fatalities.
