The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated their website information about how COVID-19 spreads, placing aerosol transmission at the top of the common ways the virus spreads. Past guidance had focused on "close contact" as part of the risk equation, a concept that has now been removed from the page. Now, some of the questions surround indoor air quality, ventilation, accumulation of aerosols in enclosed spaces - topic on which the CDC has yet to issue any firm guidance beyond "avoid poorly ventilated indoor spaces." Although airborne spread is more likely the closer you are to an infected person, airborne virus can be inhaled at distances beyond six feet.
