In a recent update, health authorities reported a rise in mpox infections since early 2025. At least 20 cases have been identified, primarily in areas near the Congo (DRC) border. No deaths have been reported. Both clade Ia and Ib mpox viruses have been detected in the country.
Last year, the country reported 24 infections, with clade Ia identified as the circulating strain.
