Mpox was detected for the first time in the country in May 2025 in the Greater Lomé region. Since then there has been local transmission.

H5N1 was first detected in birds in June 2007. There were several outbreaks in poultry until at least September 2008. Since 2015, H5N1 outbreaks have been reported again in poultry.
No human cases of bird flu have been reported in Togo.
The first imported COVID-19 case was confirmed in March 2020.
