H5N1 was first reported in May 2022. Many other bird flu strains, including H5N2, H5N3, H5N5, H5N6 and H5N8 have been identified in birds.
Five imported cases of H7N9 have been reported in Taiwan, three of which were from Jiangsu, China. The fourth case, confirmed in April 2014, had a history of travel to Beijing as well as Jiangsu province. In February 2016, a fifth case was reported from Guangdong Province.
The first imported COVID-19 cases were confirmed on 22 January 2020.
