The country reported the first case of mpox in 1970. Since then cases continue to be reported.
Vaccination: In June 2024 the country approved two mpox vaccines for emergency use. The first vaccination campaigns began on 5 October 2024 and are ongoing.
H5N8 was first reported in domestic birds in May 2017 in an area near Lake Albert, northeast of the country.
Human cases of bird flu
No human cases of bird flu have been reported.
Cases of COVID-19 were first detected in early March 2020.
