Mpox, clade Ia, is consistently present in the country, circulating in animals. Human infections have historically occurred in the heavily forested regions in the southern part of the country. Since the beginning of 2024, there has been an increase in infections in most health districts.

Vaccination: In early November 2024, the World Health Organization and partners announced mpox vaccines would be allocated to the Central African Republic. Vaccination campaigns started in January 2025, prioritising contacts of confirmed cases, healthcare workers and those at increased risk of severe disease, including those living with HIV.
Avian influenza has never been identified in birds or humans in Central African Republic.
The first cases were identified in March 2020.
