Mpox

Bangladesh has not reported mpox infections as yet.

As of 1 June 2025, there is no mpox vaccine available in the country.

Bird flu

H5N1 was first detected in Bangladesh in March 2007. Frequent outbreaks have been reported in domestic poultry. There have also been ongoing detections in wild birds. The first detections in mammals were in April 2025.
H9N2 was first detected in 2006 and is now consistently present in domestic poultry in the country.

Human cases of bird flu

The first human case of H5N1 was reported in early 2008. Since then, at least seven additional infections, including one death, have been reported. Two cases have been reported in 2025, both from Khulna division. Surveillance of human cases may be unreliable.

Human cases of H9N2 have also been detected, with one infection reported in 2011 and two reported in 2015.

COVID-19

The first cases were reported in March 2020.
